Frequently Asked Questions
Does the timer work without an internet connection?
Yes. Once the page is loaded, the timer runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. There are no server calls while counting down, so a spotty classroom Wi-Fi connection will not interrupt it.
Can I use the classroom timer on a projector or whiteboard?
Absolutely. Click the Fullscreen button to expand the timer to fill the entire screen. The large digit display is designed to be readable from the back of the classroom.
Will the alert sound play if my browser tab is in the background?
Most modern browsers allow audio to play from background tabs. However, for guaranteed sound playback we recommend keeping the timer tab visible, especially when using a projector.
Can I pause and resume mid-countdown?
Yes. Hit Pause at any time to freeze the timer, and Start again to resume from exactly where you left off. Great for breaks during an exam.
How do I set a custom time that is not in the presets?
Type any number of minutes and seconds directly into the input fields at the bottom of the timer card. You can set anything from 1 second to 999 minutes.
Is there a version that counts up instead of down?
Not yet, but you can use the reset button to start over after time expires. A count-up stopwatch mode is on our roadmap.
What is the Bomb Countdown mode?
It is a fun themed timer with a ticking bomb animation and explosion sound. Perfect for making quizzes more exciting. Try it with the button above.
